Update Thursday #18

I got the idea for Update Thursday from the amazingly wonderful Jessica from Thoughts at One in the Morning. Every Thursday, I’ll be posting an update on my reading, writing, what’s going on at the blog, and anything else I think is worth mentioning.

Welcome to the first Update Thursday of 2013!

FINISHED READING:

Clarity by Kim Harrington {GoodReads}
Baby-Sitter’s Winter Vacation (Baby-Sitter’s Club Special Edition #3) by Ann M. Martin {GoodReads} - Don’t laugh, I was feeling nostalgic!
The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark {GoodReads}
DNF - One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern {GoodReads} - It breaks my heart to say this because I love Cecelia’s books, but I just couldn’t finish this one. I got almost a third of the way through (more than I give most books that aren’t interesting me) and I couldn’t get into it, I was bored, and nothing was really happening. Luckily my mum read it before I did, so she told me what happened, and I was kind of glad I didn’t soldier on and spend another couple days trying to read it.

CURRENTLY READING:
Deep Betrayal by Anne Greenwood Brown {GoodReads}
Will & Kate by Alice Hudson {GoodReads}

ON THE BLOG:
I did the 2012 End of Year Book Survey where I talked about my favourite books of the year and what my hopes are for the blog this year

I posted a book haul/stacking the shelves vlog - Birthday Edition #2 + Christmas!

I signed up for another reading challenge (yeah, yeah, I know) - the 2013 Ireland Reading Challenge

I talked about some of the highlights of my personal/professional life and blogging life in my 2012: A Year in Review post

I posted my first review of the year: Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi (if you haven't read Under the Never Sky you MUST...then go buy Through the Ever Night next week when it comes out!)

On my personal blog I talked more about 2012 and some of my hopes/dreams/goals for 2013 in Welcome, 2013! Let the awesome begin!

I'm participating in a New Year's Giveaway Hop on my author blog and giving away an ebook of Undressed, plus there are prizes donated by the host.

WRITING
I’m almost done writing the holiday novella I started in December. I think I should be done today or tomorrow, and then I’ll put it aside for a few months and start revisions on book #3, which I’m really excited about. I’ve had a few breakthroughs with my writing lately, so I’m eager to pull out book #3 (it’s been about six months since I wrote it) and make it even better.

I’ve started an author newsletter for anyone who wants to keep up-to-date with my writing info - cover reveals, calls for beta readers and reviewers, blog tours, sales and promotions, etc.

ALL THE REST
New Year’s Eve was a quiet one. I spent the night in with my mum and we had a ton of food, drinks, watched TV, and read, then watched the ball drop in Time’s Square.

Last night I watched Disney/Pixar’s Brave. I wanted to see it last year in the theatre but missed it, and then when it came out on DVD I didn’t want to pay $25 for it. Right after Christmas I found it on the Amazon Marketplace for a really good price and it arrived yesterday, so I watched it right away. It was really different for a Disney movie, and I really enjoyed it…even though it stirred up my wanderlust like crazy (it’s set in Scotland, and that’s one of my top 5 dream destinations).

How's your week been so far? What did you do for New Year's Eve? What have you been reading? Watching? Blogging about? Tell me or link me up to one of your favourite posts from the past week and I'll drop by!

  1. I don't laugh when it comes to Baby Sitter's Club... I used to be obsessed. I'm pretty sure I read that one. :)

    Almost done with the novella? Um, awesome! I can't wait to see what book #3 turns out to be. :D

    I have been watching Futurama Season 6, lol. I needed something to watch last night while I organized my receipts and bills (they kinda sorta started to pile up and I haven't gotten to filing everything since... September... oops). It was just the laughter pick-me-up I needed. :P

  2. Lots of exciting stuff! And HEE. I KNEW you had to be a BSC girl like me. I was hardcore into those books, and Sweet Valley High, too. :)

    Going to check out your EVER NIGHT review.

  3. The cover to Deep Betrayal is awesome! Is it any good so far? I liked Brave but it's far from my favorite Disney.
