Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy...But Are Still Sitting On My
Shelf Unread
I am SO bad about buying books and then not reading them. I
have two whole shelves full of books I’ve bought and haven’t read yet. I had
to have them and couldn’t wait to read them, but then they arrived and ended
up taking up residence on my shelf. It’s a horrible habit and one I’m hoping to
break this year once I’m all caught up on review books.
1. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
I LOVED Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so I went absolutely nuts waiting for this book. I even spent
more than I usually do for books, because I couldn't wait for it to go on sale...but it’s still sitting at the top of my pile
(literally) unread.
2. Defiance by CJ Redwine
I actually started this one when it arrived but then put it on hold because
there were other books I had to read for review. I intended to go right back to
it but it’s been months and I haven’t picked it back up yet. Luckily I wasn’t
too far into it since I’ll probably have to start back at the beginning!
3. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book, so
when I saw it on sale I had to get it…and now it sits mocking me with all the others.
4. Royal Street by Suzanne Johnson
Awhile ago I was looking for books set in New Orleans and
discovered this book. It sounds amazing, had to have it…but...yeah.
5. Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
This was another one that everyone raves about and I found
it on sale.
6. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
I actually had no idea until last year that this was a book.
I’ve heard of the movie forever but haven’t seen it (I know, I know, it’s a
crime), but one of my best blogging buddies read it last year and I decided I
had to read it before seeing the movie…looks like it’s going to be awhile
before I can see the movie!
7. This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
Around Christmastime I bought the remaining Sarah Dessen
books I didn’t already own because she’s one of my favourite authors and
because I’m hosting The Spring of Sarah Dessen Reading Challenge. This is one I
know I’ll be getting to before June at least!
8. Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohm and Kami Garcia
I really hoped to see the movie so I got this book, but when
I realized I had no one to see it with, I decided the book could wait a little while
longer.
9. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Another one that a lot of my friends raved about and that I
was curious about.
10. Embrace by Jessica Shirvington
Same story as the others…heard a lot about it, been wanting
to read more angel books, found it on sale…and there it sits, still.
What are some of the books you had to have but haven't read yet? Tell me below or link me to your Top Ten Tuesday!

Marie, you DESPERATELY need to read Shadow And Bone. It's one of the most amazing books I've ever read--something I'd put up there with The Sky Is Everywhere on the awesome scale. (Different genres, yes, but equally AMAZING books...) One of the best things I've read, not just this year, not just on my blog, but EVER.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've gotta quit being lazy and upload the video I did for this topic. :D
MARIE LANDRY. *sputters*
ReplyDeleteOh man, Defiance. It's a must read. Seriously, it's AMAZING. The world-building is SO SO solid, and there's no info-dump. Like, I was THERE, and I was scared and overwhelmed, and I mean. Just. Rachel is one of the BEST, strongest heroines I've EVER EVER read about. And Logan. Logan is one of the most awesome, swoon-worthy YA book boys in this world! GAH.
And Shadow and Bone, well. I just. I can't even look at you right now. *flounces away*
*sighs*
Okay, I'm back. Just...read S&B, please? Make time because it is awesome. And you'll meet Mal, who is even MORE amazing (imho) than Logan, or Gale, or Jeb! And you KNOW how I feel about Gale. Basically Mal reminds me a lot OF Gale. And yes, I cried my eyes out during S&B but it's worth iiit.

I do this too and then I keep putting off reading the book and putting off reading it. That's why I set a monthly goal to read in hopes that will get me reading what's sitting on my shelves.
ReplyDeleteI have had Beautiful Creatures in my nook book list ever since it went on sale or was one of their fReebie friday books - can't remember now. But it's been awhile! I really need to read it already, esp since the movie is coming out or out already etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love the books when you get the chance to read them :D

I think it's so funny that we all seem to do this. I suppose if reading didn't take quite so long we might not have such as problem, but until then...
ReplyDeletePrincess Bride and Mara Dyer!!! You must try for Mara Dyer soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI have Beautiful Creatures, too, but am planning to read it next week! And I haven't read The Princess Bride, either! I've known it was a book for a long time, but I never really had any interest in the book -- I'm sure it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteSave yourself the trouble and do NOT see the movie Beautiful Creatures, read the book though. The book is so gothic and complex in the way the plot unfolds and there was no way in hell the movie could capture that. The movie ruined many of the main plot lines from the book and didn't even feel like the same plot! Ethan was completely different and don't even get me started with what they did to the librarian that was so special to the story and they didn't even include her character! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteYou should read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer because it is beyond amazing and was my favorite book for 2011.
Embrace is a really good series as well and I love and adore Phoenix even though he is the villain. I can't help but root for the darker boys lately!
