Cover Crazy is a weekly meme hosted by The Book Worms. I loooove book covers, so when I discovered this meme, I knew I had to participate!
This week's cover:
Shattered Dreams by Ellie James
Expected Publication: December 6th, 2011
I saw this cover on a blog last week and my eye was instantly drawn to it. I love the colour scheme (blue and purple are my favorite colours), and I love the sparkly background and the necklace with the shining centre. There seems to be a theme of girls on covers with part of their face/head cut off and I know that bothers a lot of people, but I'm not one of them. I just think this is a really beautiful cover. I also like the simple font for the title and name, and I love the funky little doodle-type design under 'A Midnight Dragonfly Novel'. The synopsis also sounds really good, so I've added this book to my TBR list.
Synopsis:
Sixteen-year-old Trinity Monsour wants nothing more than to live a normal life. But that isn’t as easy as it seems. Trinity is different. She is special. She sees visions, and for those she’s seen, it’s already too late.
Trinity arrives on her aunt’s doorstep in New Orleans with virtually no knowledge of her mysterious heritage. She begins settling into life at a new school and even starts making friends. But all too quickly her dreams accelerate; twisted, terrifying visions of a girl locked in a dark room. And when the head cheerleader, Jessica, goes missing, Trinity knows she has no choice but to step forward with what she’s seen.
But people believe that Trinity has information about Jessica’s disappearance not because of a dream, but because she is involved. She is kind-of dating Jessica’s ex-boyfriend, Chase, and Jessica did pull a nasty prank on Trinity. Revenge seems like the likeliest scenario.
Nothing prepares Trinity for the dark odyssey that ensues while searching for Jessica, including the surprising romance she finds with Chase, or the shocking truths she learns, not just about the girl who has gone missing, but the past that has been hidden from her.

I really like this cover, too! And the cut-off-head thing doesn't bother me, either. :P
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace! What a showstopper. I haven't heard of this one yet. Good find!
ReplyDeleteWhen I used to make banners/signatures/avatars on forums and message boards before, I would crop like crazy! I cropped off the tops of heads, half the face, the body, feet, etc. I don't think it's necessary to see the whole picture, sometimes you need to crop away certain parts and focus on highlighting a certain area that you can use to convey an idea. As for this cover, it's very pretty. I like the choice of font and photo. However, I am a little iffy about it's positioning as well as the starry background. I think if the designer fade-erased most of the stars and just left it behind the text, it would have been better. But, like I said, it's still a very pretty cover :)
