What's Happening + Stacking the Shelves June 22nd

NOTHING. Gah! Georgetown Academy is sooooooo loooooong I spent all week reading it and I'm still not done.

Georgetown Academy Season One by Jessica Koosed Etting and Alyssa Embree Schwartz {GoodReads}
One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost {GoodReads}
The Boys of Summer by CJ Duggan {GoodReads}

  •  I posted the sign-ups for the 2013 Canadian Reading Challenge. The challenge starts July 1st and runs til the 31st. All you have to do is read and review one book either written by a Canadian author or set in Canada. I have two awesome co-hosts this year and we're offering two prizes. Check it out and sign up if it sounds like something you'd be interested in!

  • Inspired by a blog post by Chuck Wendig, I asked what your story would be about if you wrote a book with your teenage self as the main character. I got some great comments, and I'd love to hear from more people!

  • Don't forget about my Fan Appreciation Event: BLUE SKY DAYS is just 99 cents, plus if you review WAITING FOR THE STORM, you could win a $25 Amazon gift card or $25 PayPal cash!
It's been an insanely busy week for me. The only thing I think you guys might be interested in is that I started working on my next novel! I've had the idea for awhile and I've been jotting down notes but I keep putting off starting, for various reasons. This week I finally got my act together and started. It's going to be a contemporary new adult, and the only other thing I can tell you beyond that is that it involves a sexy Irishmen. ;-)

WON:
From Diayll at Mother/Gamer/Writer for the first month of the Night Huntress read-along - thanks again Diayll! This has been on my wishlist for ages, so I'm super excited to finally have it! :-D
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell {GoodReads}

FREEBIES:
I thought of calling this week’s Stacking the Shelves the ‘sexy ebook edition’ because of all these sexy freebies. After all the money I’ve spent on books and DVDs lately, I was glad to get some freebies this week!
Against the Wall by Julie Prestsater {GoodReads}
One Perfect Night by Bella Andre {GoodReads}
Wicked Games by Jill Myles {GoodReads}
Try Me by Olivia Cunning {GoodReads}

BOUGHT:
Kiss the Morning Star by Elissa Janine Hoole {GoodReads}
Something Like Normal by Trish Doller {GoodReads}
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead {GoodReads}
The first two were cheapies on Kindle (I won a copy of Something Like Normal awhile ago and it hasn't come yet, so I figured I'd grab the ebook while it was on sale just in case...my hard copy will probably come next week with my luck) and the last one I got from the Book Depository last week - they were having a one-hour sale where they had a different book every 15 minutes and this was the last book, which I got for $2.34! I haven’t started the series yet, but I couldn’t pass up a gorgeous hardcover that’s only been out for four months, and at that price.

Even though this isn’t book-related, I’ve talked about Doctor Who a couple times on the blog, so I thought I’d share this. I actually just started watching the show in March and I was getting the DVDs from my library but I fell so in love with the show, I really wanted to own the DVDs. They’re insanely expensive everywhere so I kept an eye out and finally found an incredible deal for all 7 seasons on eBay. I basically got the entire set for the price of two sets, and they’re brand new - score! The same thing happened when I bought Supernatural a few months ago.

How was your week? Did you get any new books? Tell me in the comments below or post a link to your Stacking the Shelves/Book Haul/In My Mailbox/Showcase Sunday, etc. Happy reading! <3

  2. Okay, so I'm debating on whether I can join the challenge after all. I am supposed to reread either Anne Of Green Gables OR Emily Of New Moon this year for my classics challenge... why not in July? Hmm... I'll have to see where all my goals stand and maybe I'll sign up last minute. ;)
