- Want to be part of the WAITING FOR THE STORM blog tour? Read this post to find out how
- On my personal blog, I talked about having a back injury for the last three months and what it’s taught me, I shared my Summer 2013 To-Do List, talked about the tests I had to have on my heart, talked about the fun I had the first week of May (and shared pics!), and shared a Wordless Wednesday of Spring pictures. I also made a new banner for my blog and I'd love to know what you guys think!
*I've got five open giveaways happening right now. Be sure to check the space under my header for all the links!*
- Molli wrote a fantastic post about becoming a better blogger. She also wrote a great post about ARCs and the things no one tells you
- This one's a little (ok, a lot) self-serving, but Jessica posted a really lovely, thoughtful review of WAITING FOR THE STORM
- Jamie talked about bloggers and our OCD tendencies and asked us to share ours or whether we have them at all
- Kathy reminds bloggers to back up our blogs - I did it as soon as I read the instructions!
- Author Maureen Johnson talked about gender representation in book covers and how things should be different
- Examiner.com posted a list of 25 titles YA book-to-film fans need to read now. I’ve read 5 of these. How about you?
- And, just like last week, this has absolutely nothing to do with books or blogging or writing, but it’s so cool I thought it was worth sharing: the 33 most beautiful abandoned places in the world - these are gorgeous and some of them are wonderfully creepy!
For those of you who know about my back injury, I'm finally doing much better. I was able to start taking the bus again this week (after 13 weeks of being in too much pain and not having the strength in my right leg to take the bus), so that was pretty exciting. Yay for having some independence again! I went to the library and sat and read for a couple hours which was nice, and I spent some time at the park with my family. Also, I found out my niece will be joining us a week earlier than expected - my sister-in-law will be induced in three weeks!
I've been watching: season one of Road to Avonlea. Anyone remember this show? It was pretty much the defining show of my childhood; I bought the whole series last year on DVD (they cost a fortune but I was constantly checking for sales and managed to get a really good deal) and we just finally started watching season one. It makes me really emotional because I grew up with these characters so it feels almost like being reunited with family. Also, as of tonight, I'll be starting series three of Doctor Who because I'm picking it up from the library this morning - woohoo!

The Waiting Tree by Lindsay Moynihan {GoodReads}
BOUGHT:
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson {GoodReads}
I read this book in 2011 and it's still one of my top 5 favourite contemporary books. I finally decided to buy it when I bought a copy for one of my besties. I decided to get the UK cover for myself because a) it was cheaper, and b) it matches my copy of Second Chance Summer, which I also purposely bought the UK copy of. I love the North American covers but I think these ones are so cool and detailed and really fit the stories. I can't wait to reread this book this summer.
*A big thank you to Tara from Hobbitses, Tor/Forge, Pajama Press, and Monarch Books*
