I started writing The Game Changer just days after publishing my debut novel, Blue Sky Days. It was a big change for me - BSD was first person young adult, and TGC was third person women's fiction. Until Blue Sky Days, I never thought I would write YA, but I loved it, so I was surprised when I got the idea for The Game Changer. It literally popped into my head, I wrote ten pages of notes within a couple hours, and I knew I had to start it, even though I had intended to start something different (another YA). I feel like I've grown so much as a writer in such a short time - I learned a lot while writing and revising Blue Sky Days, and then once it was published, I learned even more from the reviews. Even though negative reviews hurt, I took the advice and criticism to heart and worked on those things, and I really do feel like I've become a better writer.
For anyone who's curious, my third novel (which will hopefully be out early next year) is a return to young adult contemporary romance. I couldn't stay away for long! Hopefully I'll have more news to share about it soon, since I'll be starting revisions on it very soon.
Ok, now for the reason you're really here...the cover! Here we go....*drum roll please*

Melody Cartwright has never had a problem with change, but for the first time in her life the changes are beyond her control—she suddenly has a niece she never knew, but has to prove herself to; her best friend is making huge life changes of her own; and she has to deal with her ex and his crazy new girlfriend who has stalker tendencies.
When Melody meets confident, sexy Julian, she’s not interested in a relationship. He tells her it’s possible for a man and a woman to just be friends, and despite his ultra-charming ways there’s something about him that makes Melody believe he could be right.
During a time of change and turmoil, it doesn’t take long for Julian to become everything Melody never knew she needed in her life. But is it possible for them to remain ‘just friends’ or will Melody be a game changer for Julian the playboy?

A few other things while I have your attention: to celebrate the cover reveal of The Game Changer, I've reduced the price of Blue Sky Days from $2.99 to 99 cents on Amazon from today through Friday. If you don't have a Kindle but want to take advantage of the sale, you can get the book for 99 cents from Smashwords in any format using the coupon code AE43E.
Also, I've redone my author blog - the look of it, but also the pages. I have some new Blue Sky Days extras up, a page for writing resources, and a new page with Blue Sky Days, The Game Changer, and the brand new cover for my book of short stories I'm releasing this month - I'm not going to say anything else about that, you'll have to visit the blog to see for yourself! I've also got a new header on my Facebook fan page, and I've started a Pinterest board for The Game Changer.
How my author blog looked before...you'll have to visit to see what it looks like now! ;-) |
That's it! I'd love to know what you think of the cover. I'll have e-ARCs ready by next month for any reviewers who want a copy!
