A to Z Challenge Day 1: All about me and April goals

I thought that since this is the first day of the A to Z Challenge and I'll (hopefully) be having some new visitors, I'd introduce myself for those new to my blog.  My name is Marie, I'm 27 and live in Ontario, Canada.  I'm a freelance writer and I'm in the process of working on a novel...several novels, actually.  I've written 3 so far and the one I'm working on is the second novel I wrote, which I finished in 2004 and have finally decided to take out again and fix up with the hopes of having it published.  I also have two other novels started and ideas for several more.  In the meantime, I'm writing for HubPages, Suite101 and Squidoo, although lately I've been concentrating mostly on HubPages.  I've also had several short stories published, and I'm hoping to have a few more published in the next couple of months.

Besides writing, I love to read, listen to music, knit (I knit scarves for a local charity, along with my 99-year-old Grama who knits mittens for children and donates them), and spend time with my beautiful family, who is everything to me.  I love to travel and have done a fair bit of it, but unfortunately not much in the last couple of years.  I have two years left until my passport expires and I'm determined to get at least one stamp on it before then....or at the very least, use it to get into the States a few more times and go beyond New York, which is only a couple hours away.

March was kind of a screwy, off month for me.  I was so scattered, trying to do too many things and ended up not getting a heck of a lot actually done.  This month, I'm setting goals and I'm determined to get a lot accomplished.

April Goals
*Stick with the A to Z blogging challenge and create 26 new blogs.
*HubPages is having a contest for the month and I want to write at least 15 new hubs.
*Continue to work on my novel and add at least 10,000 of the 30,000 words I need to make it proper novel length.
*Continue to work on my journey to good health - work out at least 5 days a week, eat healthy, etc.  30 pounds down, but still a long way to go and a lot of work to do.
*Fix up the short story I've been wanting to submit for the last 2 months and actually get it submitted, along with at least one other.
*Read at least 3 books.

That's basically it.  I've been having a lot of trouble with procrastination and finding balance, so I'm going to have to set weekly or maybe even daily goals to stay on track, but I'm confident that I can make April a great, successful month.

What are some of your goals for April?

  1. Awesome idea. Reminded me that I should work on my About Me page (which is all of one sentence, I think). Great start to the challenge!

  5. Procrastination can be a real pain to those of us who are prone to it. I hope you can keep yourself from falling into that trap.

  6. Ha! I did one of these yesterday, only in reverse... I reviewed progress on New Year's goals. Looks like you've got a good plan and it was great to 'meet you'! I am in Ontario's OTHER US neighbor--Michigan...

  8. Goals are great to give you purpose. A suggestion for you is to have your long term goals. Then make a list of short term goals that are under the long term goals to help you reach your long term goal. it will help you to feel successful as if you are making progress. In reality you are making progress! :)
