Stacking the Shelves ~ May 31st

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Hi guys! It's been ages since I did a Stacking the Shelves post. I kept meaning to do one every week, then decided I'd take a break, and now I'm back! This post would be endless if I shared all the books I've acquired since my last STS, so here are the books I got this week:

GIFT:
Fleur de Lies by Maddy Hunter {GoodReads}

*Maddy Hunter has been one of my favourite authors for years. A couple years ago I contacted her to tell her how much I love her books, and we became friends. She's so lovely and sweet, and has been so supportive of my writing career. For the last couple years, she's sent me a signed copy of each of her new books, and Fleur de Lies is her newest release. I love this cozy mystery series - it's hilarious, romantic, and it satisfies my ever-growing wanderlust by letting me live vicariously through the characters' travels. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, the Passport to Peril series is a must-read.

BOUGHT:
Not Until Tonight by Jessica Sankiewicz {GoodReads}
Just One Night by Gayle Forman {GoodReads}
Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon {GoodReads}

FOR REVIEW:
Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini {GoodReads}
Winterspell by Claire LeGrand {GoodReads}
Unravel by Imogen Howson {GoodReads}
Alias Hook by Lisa Jensen {GoodReads}
Traitor’s Blade by Sebastien de Castell {GoodReads}
Murder by Sarah Pinborough {GoodReads}

*A huge thank-you to Maddy Hunter, Simon & Schuster Canada, Thomas Dunne Books, MacMillan, and Jo Fletcher Books

~*~I need your help!~*~

From June 27th-30th I'm running a relaunch book blitz for my debut novel, Blue Sky Days, which originally came out in January 2012. I've made some changes and additions, and I'll be relaunching the book on the 27th. Because part of the book was inspired by my dad's battle with leukemia, I picked the 27th because it will be the 20th anniversary of his death. For the 4 days of the blitz, half the proceeds from all sales of Blue Sky Days will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. I'm still looking for people to sign up for the blitz, as well as sponsors for a blitz-wide giveaway. I've already collected $60 (!!) in donations, so the giveaway is going to be epic. I'd be so grateful to anyone willing to sign up for the blitz and/or donate money for the prizes. The more people who know about the relaunch, the better - I'd love to be able to honour my dad by donating a ton of money to the Canadian Cancer Society. You can read all the details, plus find the sign-up form HERE

Book Haul + What's Happening (2014 #3)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Happy March, book lovers! I hope you all had a great last week of February. Here are the books I've acquired in the last couple weeks:

WON

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks {GoodReads}
Of Triton by Anna Banks {GoodReads}

I won these two gorgeous books (signed, plus signed swag) from Anna Banks. She's having a weekly giveaway to celebrate the upcoming release for Of Neptune.
There are still weekly chances to win, so be sure to check out her blog and enter.

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh {GoodReads}

The awesome people at Simon & Schuster Canada sent me this as a thank-you for helping promote their big winter giveaway.

BOUGHT

Dust and Shadow: An Account of the Ripper Killings by John H Watson by Lyndsay Faye {GoodReads}
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater {GoodReads}

I got these for $1 each at my library's bookstore. I'd never heard of Dust and Shadow but the 'An account of The Ripper Killings by Dr. John H Watson' caught my eye and I stood in the bookstore squeeing. Sherlock + Jack the Ripper? Two of my borderline unhealthy obsessions. This book was practically written for me. Also I've heard amazing things about The Raven Boys, so how could I resist?

As You Turn Away by Molli Moran {GoodReads}
Bewitching by Jill Barnett {GoodReads}
The MacKinnon’s Bride by Tanya Anne Crosby {GoodReads}

As You Turn Away is the debut novel of one of my besties (and it's only 99 cents right now); Bewitching is a Kindle Monthly Deal ($1.99 - it sounds great!), and I've had my eye on The MacKinnon's Bride for awhile and I managed to get it as a freebie, which was exciting!

Waiting for the Storm and After the Storm swag! VistaPrint had a site-wide sale a couple weeks ago so I ordered postcards, stickers, mini bookmarks, and address labels (which aren't in the pic). My Street Team members will be the first to get swag packs (want to be part of my Street Team? Find out more info here), but I'll be doing some giveaways soon leading up to the release of After the Storm next month.

*Huge thank-you to Anna Banks and Simon & Schuster Canada*

Kiss the Morning Star by Elissa Janine Hoole {GoodReads}
16 Things I Thought Were True by Janet Gurtler {GoodReads}

Don't Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski {GoodReads}

  • I posted the March link-up for the Historic Fiction Reading Challenge
  • I reviewed Perfect Lies by Kiersten White and gave it 4 stars

One last thing...
This week is Read an Ebook Week. To promote reading (specifically reading ebooks), Smashwords has a promotion where authors can opt in to provide their books at a discount. I've enrolled all four of my books, so from now until the 8th, all my books are 50% off. If you'd like to take advantage of the sale, go through the checkout process, and in the coupon area, put REW50. My books: Blue Sky Days, The Game Changer, Waiting for the Storm (this would be a great time to get WFTS so you can read it before After the Storm comes out next month), and The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Check out all the discounted books here - there are tons of books for 25%, 50%, and 75% off, and there are also a bunch for free!

Thanks for stopping by! How was your week? Did you get any new books? Have you read any good ones that you'd recommend? Tell me in the comments below or post a link to your Stacking the Shelves/Book Haul/In My Mailbox/Showcase Sunday, etc. Happy reading! <3

  • I reviewed Lady Thief by AC Gaughen and gave it 5 stars
  • I participated in the book blitz for my friend Lilly Avalon's debut short story, Here All Along

It's been a CRAZY week. I worked 12-15 hour days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, then had to be up before 6am on Thursday to watch my 8-month-old niece and 4-year-old nephew while my sister-in-law took her dad to have surgery. Friday was a super fun day, though. My mum and I went out and did some shopping, went out for lunch, and then had my niece and nephew for a few hours while my brother and sister-in-law went out for a Valentine's date. It was such a great day, and just the break I've been needing.

My super duper awesome mum not only treated me to lunch on Friday, she also bought me season 3 of Sherlock, a U2 Joshua Tree mug, and some chocolate. Since we share an apartment, she knows the long hours I work and that I'm basically a hermit, and she thought I needed a little treat. Isn't she amazing?? I'm so lucky. Then when my sister-in-law dropped the kids off, she had a Valentine's gift for us - a bunch of chocolates and a really cute hanging ornament. I was going to take a picture of the goodies but my nephew ripped into them and proceeded to try each thing before I had a chance lol. I felt thoroughly spoiled yesterday, and so blessed to have people who love and appreciate me, especially since I've been in a really blah mood lately.
My Valentine's Day dates <3
As I mentioned in the 'On the Blog' section, I revealed the cover for my novel After the Storm this week. To go along with the reveal, I've reduced the price of Waiting for the Storm to just 99 cents across all ebook retailers.
{Amazon US/CAN/UK || Kobo || B&N || Smashwords}

*I know the graphic says the sale runs until the 15th but I've extended it an extra day so it'll be 99 cents until Monday.
