Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery clan, running the family's construction business with an iron fist - and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers bust on his compulsive list-making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn't plan for was Avery McTavish

Avery's popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a first-hand look at its amazing renovation - and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery's thoughts. But the attraction she's feeling for him now is far from innocent.

As Avery and Owen cautiously take their relationship to another level, the opening of the inn gives the whole town of Boonsboro a reason to celebrate. But Owen's hard work has only begun. Getting Avery to let down her guard is going to take longer than he expected - and so will getting her to realize that her first boyfriend is going to be her last…

I loved being reunited with the Montgomery boys, along with Avery, Clare, Hope, and the rest of the amazing characters in book two of the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy. This is Owen and Avery’s story, but we got to carry along with Beckett and Clare’s romance from the previous novel, and watch their love story continue while Owen and Avery’s blossomed.

Owen is a planner, and Avery likes to just go with things. They’ve been friends forever and they’re worried about ruining their friendship by taking it further, but it’s almost a natural progression for them to go from friends to lovers. They have their ups and downs and their worries, but they take things as they come, and enjoy each other along the way.

I love the friendship between them, even after they’re lovers. It’s obvious that they admire and respect each other, and I love their interactions and conversations. I also like that they know how to push each other’s buttons because they’ve known each other for so long, but at the same time, things that didn’t necessarily matter as friends (like Avery’s habit of keeping certain things to herself) suddenly matter now that they’re a couple, and they have to figure out how to open up to each other.

Other than the romance aspect of the book, I loved watching the inn get finished, and getting an inside look at all the preparations and finishing touches. It was also fun learning about the Montgomery boys’ other projects, and seeing them finish Beckett’s house so Clare and the boys could move in. I loved that we got to see Beckett and Clare get married after watching them fall crazy in love in The Next Always. I was also glad that more was revealed about Lizzy, the inn’s ghost. I’m anxious for her entire story to be revealed, and for her to hopefully be reunited with her long lost love.

Overall, this book was everything I love about a Nora Roberts book - great writing, sweet romance, friendship, humour, steamy sex, and characters that are interesting and relatable. I can't wait for the final book in the trilogy, The Perfect Hope, and to see not only what happens between Ryder and Hope, but also to catch up with the happenings in the lives of the other Montgomery boys.

Have you read either of the first two BoonsBoro Trilogy books? What did you think? Are you a fan of Nora Roberts in general?
