The 2012 "New Adult" Challenge

Yes, another challenge. I don't know what's wrong with me. It's like an addiction...but I suppose there are worse things to be addicted to, right?

After the last challenge I signed up for (I think it was the 20th for 2012), I swore I was done, but then I saw this challenge and thought it was such a fantastic concept, I had to sign up. PLUS, if you check out the GoodReads list of suggestions for this challenge, you'll see BLUE SKY DAYS. *squee*

The "New Adult" Challenge is hosted by A Tapestry of Words, and the idea is to read books with protagonists who are in their late teens and early 20s (basically people who have graduated from high school and are learning to fend for themselves). I love these types of books because the challenges the characters face go beyond high school drama (the mean girl, the hot guy, boohoo I'm not popular, my best friend has become a jerk, etc). Don't get me wrong, I love those books, but it's nice to read some books where the characters aren't still in high school.

Now, for some shameless self-promotion. *grins and bats eyelashes* BLUE SKY DAYS fits in the "new adult" category. Emma is 19, she graduated from high school a year ago and has been working to put herself through college. She wants to do things on her own terms, not her parents' terms. When she realizes she doesn't know what she wants to do with her life, she leaves town to live with her Aunt Daisy, who is a slightly eccentric artist. While there, Emma learns a lot about herself, the world around her, and life in general. She falls in love, makes friends for the first time in her life, finds her passion, and has to deal with some very real, very grown-up situations. I hope that some of you will consider reading it for this challenge. :-)

I'm committing to the Moving Out Level - a minimum of 6 New Adult books. For full details and to sign up for this awesome challenge, visit A Tapestry of Words.
