It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #7

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. The idea is to share what you've read lately, what you're currently reading, and what you plan to read next. I love seeing what other people are reading and then adding to my never-ending TBR, so I thought this would be a fun meme to participate in each week!

What I Read Last Week:

  • Flying by the Seat of my Knickers by Eliza Watson ~ I'm behind on writing reviews again, so I haven't written my review for this one, but it was really cute. I especially liked the Irish setting!
  • A Brit Unexpected by Brenda St John Brown ~ I LOVED this romantic comedy. My review will be up on release day (April 10th).

What I'm Currently Reading

As you can see, I've got an eclectic mix of books going on this week!

  • Big Girls Do It Running by Jasinda Wilder ~ I don't read a lot of non-fiction, but one of my goals for this year is to read at least 3 non-fiction books and this is my second. Jasinda has written a ton of fiction, and I haven't read any of it, but I follow her Facebook page and saw her talking about this book. Since it was only 99 cents, I decided to give it a try, and it's interesting so far.
  • Learn a Word in 100 Words by Patricia Josephine ~ My friend Patricia has been doing flash fiction on her blog for awhile and this is a collection of those stories, all inspired by unique and unusual words.
  • Star-Crossed by Barbara Dee ~ LGBTQ Middle Grade! I'm not far into this one yet,  but it's cute so far.

What I Plan to Read Next:
It Happened on Love Street by Lia Riley ~ Lia is one of my favourite authors; it feels like forever since her last release, so I'm really excited about this one, which comes out next month.

Last Week on the Blog:
  • My new business, Sunrise Author Services officially launched last Monday, and I did an intro and explanation here on the blog. If you're an author and you're looking for a cover or promotional graphics, or you need help with various promotional services, including finding reviewers for your books, be sure to check us out! We also have a blogger-exclusive newsletter for book bloggers to learn about ARCs, promotional opportunities, and giveaways.
  • I helped with the cover reveal for A Brit Unexpected by Brenda St John Brown (which I mentioned above that I read and loved). There's a chance to win 1 of 5 ARCs, but you'd better hurry because the giveaway ends today!

News:
My contemporary coming-of-age/romance novel, Something in the Air, has been on sale for the last week and a bit, and it's still on sale! I'll be changing the price from 99 cents back to $2.99 soon, so take advantage of the sale while you can.

What have you been reading lately? Have you read any of the books I've been reading? I'll be doing the rounds of fellow It's Monday! What Are You Reading? participants, but in case I miss you, be sure to leave a link below so I can visit you! Also, if you did a general weekly recap, feel free to leave a link so I can check it out!

Her life hasn't gone as planned, but she's about to realize that sometimes the best things happen when you stop expecting life to be a certain way...

When Rose Morgan put off her college plans to help her mother through a difficult time, she thought it would just be a bump in the road of her journey. She got a job to help pay the bills and started picking up the slack at home. But three years later, her bumpy ride hasn’t smoothed out yet, and Rose feels stuck. She’s working at a job she hates and living with a manipulative mother. She’s tired of feeling like her life has stalled, tired of the resentment and anger building inside her with each passing day.

Then Declan Connelly appears in her life, and even though the hot Irishman is seriously tempting, Rose is determined not to let him in. She’s afraid to suck anyone into her bizarre life, especially someone who seems too charming for his own good. She soon learns there’s more to Declan than his sexy accent and charismatic personality, though. He’s a good man, and he wants Rose in his life, baggage and all. He’s got his own, and he isn’t scared away like she originally feared he would be.

Everything in Rose’s life is changing quickly. It’s finally her time--time to figure out what she wants and what her future holds. Time to get swept off her feet and not fight it. But when her plans might take her away from all the amazing new things in her life, including Declan, Rose has to make a choice. Is she willing to chase her dreams, even if it means letting go of love?

Be sure to check out the rest of the stops on the hop!

Christmas in the Air Release Day!

As many of you know, I released my seventh novel, Something in the Air, last month. I've had so many people tell me they wanted more of Rose and Declan's story, so I'm giving you more: a holiday short story! Christmas in the Air takes place a couple months after Something in the Air, and follows Rose and Declan as they get ready for their first Christmas in London. I had so much fun writing this story, especially since I love London. I jokingly told a few friends it was basically a love letter to the city, which is part of why I had so much fun writing it.

The best part: this story is FREE. I wanted to give a gift to my readers to thank you for your support and encouragement. You can download it on your e-reader or read it right here on the blog.

Download on Smashwords, Kobo, or iBooks, or read the story online
*The story will be available soon for Nook*

Haven't read Something in the Air yet? It's available for just $2.99 at all major ebook retailers. If you have read it, I'd be incredibly grateful if you'd take a few minutes to leave a review, especially on Amazon. Reviews don't have to be long - even just a few words to say why you liked the book (or why you didn't - I appreciate honesty) would make a huge difference to me and to other readers looking for something new to read. Thank you!

SOMETHING IN THE AIR Release Day!

Something in the Air hits virtual bookshelves today!

I’m so excited that Rose and Declan’s story is finally out in the world. This book has been a long time coming. I started writing it in the summer of 2013 and got stuck, so I decided to set it aside for awhile. ‘A while’ turned into almost two years, during which I wrote and published several other books. When I finally went back to Something in the Air, I had an amazing critique partner who helped me get through the issues I was having with the story so I could finally finish. After over two years of carrying Rose, Declan, and the other characters in my mind, this book feels like a labour of love. I really do love this story about self-discovery, friendship, love, and following your dreams, and I hope you’ll love it, too!

Cover Reveal: SOMETHING IN THE AIR

It's cover reveal day for my seventh book, Something in the Air! I'm so excited about this cover, you guys. I had the image in mind long before the book was finished. I searched and searched, but kept coming back to this one. I love how the girl looks so happy and at ease with the guy. This is how Rose feels with Declan; he's the first person who's made her feel seen. She can be herself with him, say anything, do anything, and that's an amazing feeling. I think (and hope) this cover really captures that.

Ready to see it? ;-)

Cover Reveal Sign-ups: SOMETHING IN THE AIR

Last week I finally finished the first draft of my seventh novel, Something in the Air! I've been working on this book on and off for the last two years, and I honestly thought I'd never finish. *throws confetti, cries tears of relief, breaks out the alcohol and chocolate*

For the last several months, I had an image in mind for the cover, and a month or so ago I started playing around with it, hoping that designing the cover would be the inspiration/motivation I needed to finish writing the book. I absolutely love the image and think it's a near-perfect representation of Rose and Declan and their story, and I was so happy when it all came together and became THE COVER.

So...it's that time again - cover reveal time! The official cover reveal will be August 20th. I decided not to hire someone to do a cover reveal this time around. I don't have a ton of money to put into promo right now (I'm hoping to try some cool new things closer to release time), so I'd rather take some of the money I would have spent on a cover reveal and do a few giveaways for the awesome people who have been so wonderful and supportive!

That's where you guys come in. Because I'm organizing the cover reveal myself, I'm hoping I can count on my blogger friends to help. I know not everyone does cover reveals on their blogs, so even if you'd be willing to share on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or anywhere, I'd be incredibly grateful. If you can post on your blog, I'm not picky about it being the top or only post on your blog. And if you want to participate but can't on the 20th, you can feel free to post any time after the 20th.

A huge thank-you in advance to the people who help me reveal Rose and Declan's cover! Sending you lots of virtual hugs and cookies and hot Irish men. ;-)
