Shortly before I went on my trip to Europe, I began thinking it was time for a makeover on the blog. I wanted something completely different - different colour scheme, different style, different theme. I wanted it to be bookish, but the image in my mind that kept coming back wasn't book-related, it was travel-related. I decided to wait until I got back from my trip and go through my pictures to see if the idea would even work...

Bye-bye old design! |
When I got back from Europe and started looking through my pictures, I knew what I wanted the new header to look like, and I even had a colour scheme in mind. I was worried my mental image wouldn't translate to screen, but it did, and so the new design for Ramblings of a Daydreamer was born! Even though the blog is still mostly a book blog, I do talk about travel a lot, as well as a few other things, so I thought the blended images of London, Rome, and Paris were fitting.
Something I've noticed in the last few months is that I get a lot of visitors to my blog, but only a couple people (and basically always the same people - hi guys, I love you!) actually comment. I know I'm guilty of visiting blogs and not commenting, or reading posts in my email or Bloglovin instead of on a blog, where I can comment, but I want to make more of an effort to interact with fellow bloggers and make friends. A couple years ago I came across a blog that had a monthly commenter giveaway - for every comment you left, you were entered into a giveaway. It seemed like a great way to generate discussions and meet other people.
I've decided to do something like that this month (I'm a few days late getting started - it's been a crazy few days!). I wanted to do something different than a book or gift card giveaway, so I'm doing a giveaway for one item from your wishlist.
How it'll work:
- The wishlist can be anywhere - GoodReads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, your blog, Tumblr, Book Depository, Etsy, etc.
- The wishlist can contain anything - books, movies, Funko Pops, CDs, jewelry, stationary - anything.
- Once a winner is drawn, I'll email them to get their address and make sure their wishlist is up to date (in case they've acquired something from it in the meantime). Then I'll go through that person's wishlist and surprise them with one (or two, depending on the price) item from their wishlist.
Sound like fun? Want to win something from your wishlist? Enter the giveaway below! There are several options for entering - leaving your wishlist is a mandatory entry, and the rest are just extras. There are two entries for comments and you can do those daily. I really would like to generate more comments and discussions on the blog, so please comment! I love this community so much and I'd like to meet new people and make new friends.
*This giveaway is open internationally.

What do you think of the new blog design? Wait until you see my new review rating system - I'm pretty proud of it! ;-)
What kinds of things do you have on your wishlist? Mine is a combination of books, ebooks, DVDs, CDs, and Funko Pops mostly. Is there something special you've wanted for a long time but haven't bought for yourself?
When I first read about the wishlist I was like CRAP! None of my wishlists are current... so I'm going to use one, then spend tonight "fixing" it since I already bought things off it. LOL.
ReplyDeletePS: The new design is PERFECTION. I love it. :D
I think this is a great way to intereact or at least i hope it will bring you more comment ( meaningful one)
ReplyDeletewishlist oh my i need to have them up to date so i gave you the list to the main one as you will ask teh winner if it's the right list/ up to date it shoudl be oki^^;;
i mostly have book! i do love stationary/ letter paper as well but i don't see how to add that to my wishlist on bookdepository so i will be happy with books^^
i do like your new design but i loved teh precedent ones as well
I love the new design! The giveaway sounds super fun!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, I am one of those people who drop by your blog but never leave a comment and I think I have a similar problem on my own blog, lots of page hits but very few comments, so I am really interested to see how this goes for you. I won't enter your giveaway just yet, I don't actually keep wish lists, although I did set up a wish list shelf on goodreads to help family know what books I was currently looking for. (Now you have me thinking about maybe setting up a wish list page on the blog to make gift shopping a bit easier for family).
ReplyDeleteI really like your new design, I have a bit of a thing for the colour blue and the header is effective. Good luck with the comment drive and I will be sure to leave comments more often.
I love the new design, Marie. It is so pretty! I just redid mine too, but I can't get away from green. What can I say? It's my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteThe new blog design is gorgeous! I just redid mine also. I had to because my host said my blog kept crashing my server. :D What a fun idea for a giveaway also! I think I may borrow it someday if you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteI love the new design, everything from the pictures to the colours.
ReplyDeleteI have a few wishlists going on so I'll have to get it organised :)
I am loving the new blog design, especially the colors you used. It is very soothing! <3
