Book Haul + What's Happening (2014 #2)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Happy Saturday, bookish friends! I hope you've all had a fantastic week, and that you've been able to add some new books to your shelves or ereaders. Here are the books I've acquired this week:

FOR REVIEW:
On the Fence by Kasie West {GoodReads}
The Secrets of Lily Graves by Sarah Strohmeyer {GoodReads}
Strange and Ever After by Susan Dennard {GoodReads}
16 Things I Thought Were True by Janet Gurtler {GoodReads}
Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy {GoodReads}
Don’t Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski {GoodReads}
The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor {GoodReads}
17 First Kisses by Rachael Allen {GoodReads}
The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings {GoodReads}

BOUGHT:
Arise by Tara Hudson {GoodReads}
Until I Die by Amy Plum {GoodReads}
Dreamless by Josephine Angelini {GoodReads}
I got these three beauties at Chapters for $10. $10! They're all second books in trilogies, and I own the first books of each (but haven't read them yet, oops). I couldn't pass up this sale! Plus all the covers are gorgeous.

Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller {GoodReads}
This is the Kindle Daily Deal today (Saturday), so I couldn't pass it up.

*A huge thank-you to HarperTeen, Sourcebooks Fire, and Random House*

 Sweet Nothings by Janis Thomas {GoodReads}
All That Glows by Ryan Graudin {GoodReads}

 The Secret Diamond Sisters by Michelle Madow {GoodReads}
Perfect Lies by Kiersten White {GoodReads}

  • I reviewed Lady Thief by AC Gaughen and gave it 5 stars
  • I participated in the book blitz for my friend Lilly Avalon's debut short story, Here All Along

It's been a CRAZY week. I worked 12-15 hour days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, then had to be up before 6am on Thursday to watch my 8-month-old niece and 4-year-old nephew while my sister-in-law took her dad to have surgery. Friday was a super fun day, though. My mum and I went out and did some shopping, went out for lunch, and then had my niece and nephew for a few hours while my brother and sister-in-law went out for a Valentine's date. It was such a great day, and just the break I've been needing.

My super duper awesome mum not only treated me to lunch on Friday, she also bought me season 3 of Sherlock, a U2 Joshua Tree mug, and some chocolate. Since we share an apartment, she knows the long hours I work and that I'm basically a hermit, and she thought I needed a little treat. Isn't she amazing?? I'm so lucky. Then when my sister-in-law dropped the kids off, she had a Valentine's gift for us - a bunch of chocolates and a really cute hanging ornament. I was going to take a picture of the goodies but my nephew ripped into them and proceeded to try each thing before I had a chance lol. I felt thoroughly spoiled yesterday, and so blessed to have people who love and appreciate me, especially since I've been in a really blah mood lately.
My Valentine's Day dates <3
As I mentioned in the 'On the Blog' section, I revealed the cover for my novel After the Storm this week. To go along with the reveal, I've reduced the price of Waiting for the Storm to just 99 cents across all ebook retailers.
{Amazon US/CAN/UK || Kobo || B&N || Smashwords}

*I know the graphic says the sale runs until the 15th but I've extended it an extra day so it'll be 99 cents until Monday.

Thanks for stopping by! How was your week? Did you get any new books? Have you read any good ones that you'd recommend? Tell me in the comments below or post a link to your Stacking the Shelves/Book Haul/In My Mailbox/Showcase Sunday, etc. Happy reading! <3

  2. Oh I'm jelly! You have such a great haul <3 I want to read Side Affects May Vary but I didn't get a chance to get the ARC for review. Guess I'll wait on that one. I am waiting on The Murder Complex as well every since I saw it featured on Epic Reads.
    I completely loved Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller. I hope you like it!

  3. Yay! I really liked 16 Things I Thought Were True -- I hope you like it! Janet's our Alberta girl. :) And I so need to try out a Trish Dollar book at some point ... I've heard so many good things!

    Hermits unite! I looove being at home, but having a child has really forced me out of my comfort zone and out into the real world. It's nice to meet other mommies and babies, but at the same time I still prefer my house and quiet.

    Sherlock! I saw the DVDs at Costco the other day and so wanted to buy them ... might have to at some point. I was reading an article in Macleans about the show and how the two actors were basically unheard of when Sherlock premiered and now they've been in so many things! I love it. I really need to start watching again from the beginning.

    Anyway, have a good week, Marie! :)

  4. I finished Side Effects May Vary last week, and it so wasn't what I expected it was going to be (in a good way) I'm still not sure what to say about it yet (but it's good) Happy reading! :)
