My thoughts on Scarlet for week 3:
*Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't read Scarlet*
Scarlet is absolutely breaking my heart this week. She takes
on so much blame and responsibility for bad things that happen, and because of
all the things she’s to blame for - in her own mind - she doesn’t think she
deserves love or forgiveness (or acceptance, or understanding...the list goes on). She doesn’t think John could really love her - he
just wants to sleep with her. She doesn’t think Robin could love her because
she’s a thief, she’s scarred, and she’s not a ‘lady’, among other reasons. I seriously just want to
hug her forever. I’m sure she’ll have a breakthrough moment soon, and I can’t
wait for that to happen. I’m probably going to cheer out loud, and knowing what
a sap I am, I’m sure I’ll cry lol.
A few other things I found interesting this week: Scar mentions
her mother for the first time, and we finally learn the truth about Joanna.
Gisbourne might get wind that Scarlet’s a girl, which is bad. That whole thing is going to come to a head very soon, and I'm scared. Tax day is coming
and the band have to hand out money so everyone can pay their taxes and now end
up at the gallows. I love how much affection Scarlet has for Much - he needs
someone like her watching out for him.
Overall, another great week. I had to stop myself from
carrying on, because I had so many other things to do and I just want to sit
and finish this book. I can't believe that the next time I pick it up, I can finish it!
A few read-along related reminders:
Don't forget to enter the giveaway - we have signed Scarlet bookmarks! You get an extra entry if you participated this week.
Next week is the last week, so you can read all remaining chapters. Our question for Monday is could you be one of the merry men?

Yes, my heart keeps breaking too, there's just so much to Scarlet. Gah! I can't wait to see what happens to her (and her and Robin!!!). I love her interactions with Much and how much she cares about him.
ReplyDelete"I just want to sit and finish this book." You and me both!!! :)
It was hard for me to stop reading, too. The chapters this week were amazing!
