Jessica from Thoughts at One in the Morning and I are proud to present the Scarlet Read-Along!
My thoughts on Scarlet for week 4, our final week:
*Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't read Scarlet*
I can't believe today is the last day of our read-along! I've had so much fun, and even though we were a very small group, I've enjoyed every moment of our time together. I loved this book so much, and it was even more special because I got to share it with really cool people who were reading and loving the book too. Thank you Jessica and TG for making the last month so enjoyable!
My final thoughts on Scarlet: Abso-freaking-lutely brilliant. The end.
Seriously though, I loved this book so, so much. It was intense and action-packed, funny and romantic, and it tore my heart to pieces repeatedly, but then put it back together again. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I yelled at the characters, I fell in love; I went through the whole gamut of emotions while reading this book. I loved the characters, the story, the twists (THE TWISTS!!), just everything. Scarlet was such a complex character, and I alternated between wanting to be her and wanting to be her best friend. Robin...oh Robin. *swoons* He was brilliant - kind of understated in some ways, but just as complex as Scarlet. John and Much rounded things out beautifully, and I loved the interactions among the group, whether they were fighting, laughing, or loving each other.
For my fellow read-alongers as well as anyone who's read Scarlet: what did you think? Who was your favourite character(s)? What did you think of AC Gaughen's take on the whole Robin Hood lore?
Completely and fully agree with all the above. It was an amazing story. And the news on her blog completely wrapped this month up into something awesome. (If this makes no sense, read the tweet I sent you!!!) <3
ReplyDeleteI had a great time reading this book, too. To think, it might still be languishing in my TBR pile, if you and Jess hadn't put this read-along together. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteMy weekly link-up
I didn't do the read-along, but I've loved reading your reactions to it. Gotta go check out Scarlet for myself!
