Music Monday #1 - Lady Antebellum's 'Need You Now'

Music Monday is a new feature I'm going to try here at Ramblings of a Daydreamer. Even though this is technically a book blog, music is such a huge part of my life that I thought one post a week dedicated to music wouldn't hurt. If you'd like to join me, grab the graphic and let's talk music on Mondays! You can do pretty much anything you want - spotlight a band, a specific song, album, video, soundtrack, a concert you went to, old music, new music, obscure music, whatever you want. If you want to keep it book-related, you could make book soundtracks or talk about a song you associate with a certain book. If there's enough interest in this, I'll post a linky so everyone can share their posts each week and we can visit each other and share the love.

Lady Antebellum

Until recently, the only songs of Lady Antebellum's I knew were ones that were played on the radio. I think you'd have to be living under a rock not to know 'Need You Now' at the very least. I loved it but I have to admit I got tired of it after hearing it 10,000 times a day on the radio for months on end. Then when 'Just a Kiss' and 'Dancing Away With My Heart' were released, I completely fell in love.

A week or two ago, I got both those songs stuck in my head. I had them on replay on YouTube for days. I decided to see if the library had any of their CDs, and they had Need You Now, so I borrowed it. That was last Thursday and ever since then, I've had the album on repeat every time I'm on the computer. I'm obsessed. I'm going to have to eventually buy it and Own the Night.

I like all the songs on Need You Now, but I think my top three favourites are 'When You Got a Good Thing', 'Our Kind of Love', and 'Love This Pain'.

Strangely enough the lyrics I want to share aren't from any of those songs, they're from 'Ready to Love Again'. These just really struck me with what's been going on in my head lately.

"Just when you think that love will never find you
You run away but still it's right behind you, oh
It's just something that we can't control

Yeah I'm ready to feel now
No longer am I afraid of the fall down
It must be time to move on now
Without the fear of how it might end
I guess I'm ready to love again

So come and find me
I'll be waiting up for you
I'll be holding out for you tonight"

If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm obsessed with U2. They're my favourite band, I work them into a conversation whenever possible, and since I can't in good conscience talk music without talking about them, I decided to add a feature at the end of every Music Monday post with a U2 lyric.

"I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you, only to be with you
I have run, I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

  1. It's funny, it wasn't until like less than a month ago that I found out it was Lady Antebellum that sang that song. I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore, lol. I'll have to listen to "Our Kind Of Love" later on, the lyrics sound great. :)

PS: I'll be putting together one of these up on my blog soon! Otherwise I'd leave a link. :P

  2. I won't lie - Lady A has gotten me through some of the roughest times in my life, and has also been the soundtrack for some of the happiest. Their music means SO SO SO much to me and I'm glad to see someone else loving it. :)

  3. Lady A is amazing! They're even better live - they make it an all-out stage show and actually tell stories with the songs. It's incredibly powerful!

If you haven't heard "Hello World" yet, you should totally check it out. Also, "Poison and Wine" by The Civil Wars.

  4. I'm so happy to meet a U2 fan!! How I love these guys. <3 They're...I can't think of a way to express how much I love their music without sounding cliche. Suffice it to say, there is no song they've ever written or covered that I am not in love with! :)
