2012 A to Z Blogging Challenge: Gratitude

I consider myself a very lucky person, and I'm extremely grateful for all the blessings in my life. So, today I decided to talk about gratitude, and some of the things I'm grateful for.

*I'm grateful for my amazing family. I have the best family in the world - my mum, my brother Jamie, sister-in-law Amanda, and nephews Noah and Logan. We're a very close family - we see each other regularly, and have a great time together, because we're not just family, we're friends.
*I'm grateful for the fact that I'm living my dream of being a writer. I freelance for a few online sites, and I published my debut novel, Blue Sky Days, in January. Writing is the only thing I've ever wanted to do, and it's still a strange (and incredible) feeling to say "I'm an author".
*I'm grateful for all my online friends. I've been online for a long time, so I've met a lot of people, first through graphic design groups, then U2 fan groups, writing groups/sites, Facebook, Twitter, and blogging. I've met people from all over the world who share the same interests and passions, and I love getting to know them. I especially love my blogging buddies, because they not only get my obsession with books, they also share it.
*I'm grateful for all the people who have read Blue Sky Days, whether they bought it, won it in a giveaway, or requested it for review. Good or bad, each review has been a learning experience, and it honestly still amazes me that people are actually reading a book I wrote. I wonder if that feeling will ever get old. I hope it doesn't.
*I'm grateful that I have everything I need - a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food on my table. It's been rough at times, but I know I'm luckier than a lot of people, and that when I've had next to nothing, there are people who absolutely nothing.
*This may sound strange, but other book lovers will understand - I'm grateful for books. I'm grateful for the stories that other people tell, and the worlds other people create. I love creating my own characters and worlds and stories, but there's nothing like reading a good book where someone else has done the work for you and you just sit back and enjoy it. Books are my friends - always have been, always will be, and I'm grateful for that. They've been there through the good and bad, and when it seemed like nobody else was there.

What are you grateful for?

  10. Hi Marie! Feather Stone sent me over. Your YA contemporary sounds great and I just added it to my Goodreads shelf. Congratulations on its release and success!

I'm grateful for many things, but one is meeting so many cool authors and readers through blogging. I'm also grateful for the gorgeous weather God gave us today on Easter Sunday.
