This week's question: If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?
This is going to be a spoiler fest so try to write the title of the book as a dominant feature - and warn people about spoilers.

I have a feeling this one is going to pop up a lot today. As much as I loved The Hunger Games trilogy, and as much as I enjoyed Mockingjay, the ending was sort of anticlimactic in a way. Yes, there were twists and turns, devastating loss, and triumphs, but I think there could have been more. Even though I was Team Peeta all the way, I wanted there to be more with Gale. The way things ended between him and Katniss seemed like a cop-out. We waited and wondered who Katniss would finally choose, but she didn't choose, the choice was made for her. After being this kick-ass heroine all the way through, it felt like Katniss just gave in too easily and accepted things when she could have fought like she'd done all along.

This week's question: Making a Difference: Which book(s) would you put in the hands of today's teenagers in hopes of making a difference in their lives?
 
*Harry Potter: I know that Harry Potter is my answer for just about everything, but I have to do it lol. Those books teach such wonderful lessons about the power of friendship, love, loyalty, and good versus evil. Even though they're fantasy, there's so much in the books that's real and that applies to real life.
*A recent read: Rules of the Road by Joan Bauer. One main lesson was that you can run away from your life, but your past will follow you wherever you go, and you need to confront it and make peace with it.
*I think basically any book that shows characters who are strong and able to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles is good for teens - family problems, addiction, abuse, bullying, issues surrounding sex, etc. And also books that have strong messages of friendship, family and love. Those were the types of books that made a difference to me as a teen.

This week's question: What are you most looking forward to this fall/autumn season – A particular book release? Halloween? The leaves changing color? Cooler temperatures? A vacation?

This autumn, there are a ton of books I'm looking forward to reading, but what I'm most excited about is finally finishing my own novel, Blue Sky Days. My editor and I are working hard on this round of revisions - there are a lot of changes being made, and I feel like the book is getting better every single day. So this fall is going to consist mainly of getting the final revisions done, working out the remaining kinks in the cover (I'm hoping to do a cover reveal in the next week or two, so stay tuned for that), creating a trailer, and getting the book out to reviewers. I'm still looking for people who are interested in reviewing it, so if you'd like more info, check out the page at the top of my blog called My Novel.

    Great answer to the TGIF question. Books that touch on a variety of topics like the ones you mentioned are great for teens because at that time in their lives they're trying to hold on to, remake, or create meaningful attachments and to build themselves as people.

    I think Harry Potter is an excellent example of a book that can make a difference. Talk about overcoming obstacles.

    Off topic for the subject of this entry but: have you thought about posting a few Hubs about your adventures thus far in independent publishing? I'm sure there is no shortage of other people who have a lot of questions about the process and haven't seen any hubs from you in a while.

    My two cents, spend them as you will(I like saying that).

    Anyway, just letting you know I'm still stalking your blog so you don't feel forgotten.
